Matali Crasset (France 法國)

Matali Crasset is by training an industrial designer, a graduate of the Ateliers – E.N.S.C.I. (Workshops – National Higher School of Industrial Design). At the beginning of 2000, after her initial experience with Denis Santachiara Italy and with Philippe Starck in France, she set up her own studio in Paris called Matali Crasset Productions in a renovated former printing firm in the heart of Belleville. She considers design to be research, working from an off-centred position allowing to both serve daily routines and trace future scenarios. With both a knowledgeable and naive view of the world, she questions the obviousness of codes so as to facilitate her breaking these bonds.

Always in search of new territories to explore, Matali collaborates with eclectic worlds, from crafts to electronic music, from the textiles industry to fair trade, realising projects in set design, furniture, architecture, graphics; collaborations with artists such as Peter Halley, with young furniture-making companies, as well as with municipalities and communes. From her meetings, creative workshops, discussion and common desires, she works with different project leaders who nevertheless all have the same conviction that these collective processes result in plausible social bonding scenarios. It’s ultimately the core question of living together which defines her imaginative designs, writings and the sense of Matali’s work.

Matali Crasset畢業於法國國立高等設計學院,是一位專業的工業設計師。她曾跟隨意大利著名傢具設計師Denis Santachiara及法國設計大師 Philippe Starck工作,更被譽為 Philippe Starck 接班人。其後於2000年初, Matali在巴黎創辦了個人工作室「Matali Crasset Productions」。工作室位於貝爾維爾的中心地段,前身是印刷公司,翻新後成為Matali的個人工作室。對Matali而言,設計需經過詳細的資料搜集,並須拋開主觀思想,才能處理好日常的設計工作, 甚至預測未來的潮流走勢。憑藉一顆對世界既充滿認知又滿載童趣的心,不斷挑戰現有的規範,衝破固有枷鎖,因為她認為設計,就是要給人自由與驚喜。

Matali喜歡探索新事物,與不同範疇的單位合作,由工藝到電子音樂、由紡織業到公平貿易,作品涉獵佈景設計、傢俱、建築、平面。她亦與許多藝術家合作無間,例如Peter Halley、新派的傢俱廠商、甚至市政府及社區團體。 經年累月的合作企劃, 讓她明白到,透過這些互相合作的過程,能夠加強社會間的連繫,令社會變得團結和諧。對Matali來說,和諧並存是終極的核心問題,同時是她靈感的泉源,啟發她設計及寫出具獨特風格的作品。

BVD (Sweden 瑞典)

BVD started in 1996 and is one of Sweden’s and Scandinavia’s leading design and branding agencies. BVD has mainly worked with strategic design, focusing on all aspects of branding e g. identities, packaging and retail concepts. BVD’s design is simple, clear, modern, honest and functional with one strong message; Simplify to clarify. Simplify to clarify is the core of whole BVD; their design work, business models, strategies and internal processes. BVD believes that by helping their clients to simplify and clarify, they create a more functional, sustainable (both economically and ecologically) and beautiful world. Clients through the years include big global Swedish consumer brands such as IKEA, H&M, Absolute Vodka, Beckers Paint, Electrolux and internationally for example Vitra and Coca Cola. BVD has been published in many design books and magazines and won many design awards; AIGA, Cannes Lion, CSS Design Awards, D&AD, European Design Awards, Epica Awards, Hong Kong Design Award, HOW International Design Awards, Red Dot Awards, Retail Awards, Swedish Design Awards and The One Show Design Awards. BVD’s creative directors have also been part of many design juries; Swedish Design Award, Cannes Lion, Hong Kong Design Awards, Dubai Lynx Awards and The One Show Awards, New York.

Daydream Nation (HK/ UK 香港/ 英國)

Daydream Nation is a Fashion Arts House founded in 2006. Aside from being an international fashion label, Daydream Nation is celebrated for its cross-disciplinary collaborations with other art forms including theatre, dance, music, film and visual arts. Alongside its own collection of clothing and accessories, it features the work of local artists and indie bands, and runs a program of creative workshops, events and happenings.

Capturing hearts with its inspired designs and whimsical spirit, Daydream Nation has dressed international stars such as Ke$ha and Juliette Binoche; collaborated with a range of brands including Peter Jensen, Shangri-la, The Old Curiosity Shop and Urban Outfitters; and even caught the eye of CHANEL, whom selected pieces from their AW09 collection to inspire Karl Lagerfeld’s work. Its work has received awards such as Vogue Italia’s ‘Vogue Talent 2010’; Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Designers Award 2009,2011; Perspective/Cierre Italia’s ‘40 under 40’ Design Award, 2009; and White Milan’s ‘Womanswear Inside White Award’, 2008. Daydream Nation is currently selling to over 10 countries, stocked in over 80 shops around the world.

Designer and celebrity stylist Kay Wong graduated from Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in BA Printed Textile, during which she worked with designer Jessica Ogden. She went on to gain an MA in Constructed Textiles at Royal College of Art, London and won the WGSN worth global style network trend competition 2004 and Browns Focus ‘deconstruction’ competition 2004. She runs an ongoing project called 'Recycouture' in which she de/reconstructs old garments into wearable works of art. Kay is the Director/Main Designer for Daydream Nation.

Design Concept 設計概念:

“THE CHIHUAHUA AND LION ROMANCE”

Inspired by the film The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, "To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”
This piece is simply about love between a chihuahua and a lion, perhaps something that's not conventional, but there should be no rules or boundaries for love. It is about finding each other, drawing closer and feeling.

意念來自電影《發夢王大歷險》,「去看看世界吧,縱然會有危險;去看看牆的後方,站近一點,找尋另一半,並且去感受,這才是人生的目的。」
這設計說的是芝娃娃與獅子的故事,也許有些事情不如傳統,但愛就應該沒有規條、不分界限。當找到了對方,不妨親密一點、去感受對方所感受的。

Non-format: Kjell Ekhorn & Jon Forss (Norway/ US 挪威/ 美國)

Kjell Ekhorn (Norwegian) and Jon Forss (British) founded their design studio Non-Format in 2000. Between 2001 and 2004 they were art directors for the independent music magazine The Wire and became internationally renowned for their expressively typographic editorial design, which became a strong part of their visual language. They have since worked for a diverse range of clients including Adobe, Coca-Cola, EMI, Gap, IBM, Nike, Rick Owens, and many more. They have won many prestigious design awards including D&AD’s Yellow Pencil and two Tokyo Type Directors Club prizes. Non-Format is based in Oslo, Norway and Minneapolis, USA.

Non-format 是由挪威設計師 Kjell Ekhorn 及英籍設計師 Jon Forss 於 2000 年成立的設計工作室。2001 至 2004 年期間,他們為獨立音樂雜誌 The Wire 擔任藝術總監, 其意味深長、力求大膽奔放的排版編輯設計和視覺效果,逐漸享譽國際,更成為他們視覺語言中的強項。其後,他們服務更廣泛的客戶,包括 Adobe、可口可樂、EMI、Gap、IBM、 Nike、Rick Owens 等等。他們多次勇奪設計大獎,包括 D&AD 的「黃鉛筆獎」 (Yellow Pencil) 及兩項 Tokyo Type Directors Club 大獎。Non-Format 以挪威和美國為基地。

A custom made decorative number 1 as the main focus of the design. The expressive linework appears to flow in a loop, similar to the infinity symbol, from a starting point (one world) to a heart at the end point (one love).

Non-Format 的設計主打理念為風格別樹一幟的「1 」號。其線條呈現了一個循環流,與「無限」的符號相似。由起點 (one world) 流向終點的中心 (one love)。

Prudence @ Chocolate Rain (HK 香港)

Established in 2000, Chocolate Rain is the brainchild of its Creative Director and Founder, Prudence Mak. Chocolate Rain is inspired by childhood dream and wonderland adventure. Each piece is unique and handcrafted with mix medium and special artistic elements. Prudence is the founder and designer graduated MA in Central St. Martins in London in full scholarship. She received the 2010 Ten Outstanding Designers Award and honored as one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2012. Chocolate Rain design has exhibited and distributed internationally. In 2010, BRITISH MUSEUM x Chocolate Rain Collection launched in London. Since 2008, Fatina Dreams Ltd was founded in London and ran global licensing projects. Now Chocolate Rain has flagship stores in Hong Kong and Singapore and a theme restaurant Fatina and Chefo Eat and Play creative dining in Central Hong Kong.

香港創作品牌 Chocolate Rain 由麥雅端 (Prudence Mak) 於 2000 年創辦, Chocolate Rain 以想像力和初心,一點一滴創造一個又一個美好的故事和展覽, 鼓勵年輕人熱愛環境、釋放正能量和創造力,設計靈感源自孩童的夢想及奇妙的旅程,以獨一 無二的設計和親手製作的手工為最大特色。

創作總監 Prudence 於 2008 年獲香港青年設計才俊大獎獎學金到倫敦中央聖馬丁設計學院修讀碩士課程。於 2010 年獲十大傑出設計師,在 2012 年榮獲香港十大傑青。 Chocolate Rain 曾經在世界各地展出如大英博物館。2008 年於倫敦建立 Fatina Dreams 工作室至今,以及在香港及新加坡擁有旗艦店,並於中環開設首間分子料理主題餐廳。

Ken Lo 羅曉騰 (HK 香港)

Ken Lo is the founder of BLOW, a renowned Hong Kong-based design studio specializing in branding, packaging design and printed matters. He has won various local and international awards for excellence in design. Ken’s work has also been featured in worldwide design media, such as Computer Arts, designboom, etapes, IDEA, IdN, novum, and more. Also, he was invited to be a speaker in the 2015 HOW Design Live / the dieline conference in Chicago to share his design experience.

羅曉騰Ken Lo是香港著名設計公司BLOW的創辦人,從事品牌識別、包裝、印刷品等設計工作。他憑藉優秀的設計作品,在多個具代表性的本地及國際比賽中屢獲佳績。 並曾接受各國際設計媒體訪問,包括:Computer Arts、designboom、etapes、IDEA、IdN、novum等。他更被邀請赴美國芝加哥於2015 How Design Live / the dieline中演講,分享設計經驗。

Katrin Rougeventre (France 法國)

Katrin Rougeventre is the founder and owner of an art gallery in Paris. She graduated from Paris University de la Sorbonne in Chinese studies and from Nanjing University where she specialised on tea agronomy. She set up her own design company - CHINART - dedicated to Chinese design and contemporary art. She invited several Hong Kong artists to exhibit in her Galerie in Paris and at Show Off Art Fair. She now manages a tea concept store in Paris and has almost completed the writing of a new guidebook on Chinese teas. CHINART is an art gallery not like the others. It highlights contemporary Chinese art in a Parisian place by showing young artists and designers.

Katrin Rougeventre 醉心中國文化及藝術,是巴黎一間畫廊的創辦人及主理人。畢業於巴黎大學中國研究系後,她更於中國的南京大學主修茶道。

其後成立自己的設計公司 「CHINART」,致力推廣中國的設計和現代藝術,不時邀請不同中國及香港的藝術家及設計師於她的畫廊擺放展覽。CHINART與一般畫廊不同, 它在巴黎通過展示年輕藝術家和設計師,來突出中國當化藝術。Katrin 現於巴黎經營一間以茶為概念的店舖,亦快將完成一本關於中國茶的指南。

Courtney Marse (US 美國)

Graphic Designer. She blurs the lines between surface, apparel, and textile designer. Her work explores the illustrated and abstracted narrative and its application to three-dimensional surfaces such as engineered prints for apparel. Drawing inspiration from people and places, her process begins with developing nontraditional narratives and creating watercolor and pencil illustrations to depict the story. Lately, her primary investigation has been textile surfaces and the advantages of digital textile printing technology.

平面設計師 Courtney Marse 身兼平面、時裝及紡織品設計師。她的作品體現了插圖式及抽象式的手法,並運用在3D空間平面上,例如在時裝上進行印刷。 Courtney 從生活中的人事物汲收靈感,以創新的敘事手法及水彩和鉛筆插圖描述一個又一個精彩的故事。她將插圖剪裁成抽象的圖畫,作為大型印刷畫作的模型。 部分的原創插圖與畫作結合,成為具有豐富意象的設計作品;最後,並將錯視畫方法運用在作品上,打造3D空間的視覺震撼。最近 Courtney 更集中火力,研究織品表面以及數碼紡織品印刷技術的優點。

The design created for the collection “One World, One Love” is inspired by my city, New Orleans or La Nouvelle-Orléans. The design is a tribute to the preservation of its French cultural heritage, surrounding coastline and architectural details and colors.

是次設計概念來自她本人的故鄉新奧爾良 (New Orleans,又稱La Nouvelle-Orléans)。這項設計作品特別要向法國文化遺跡、環繞的海岸線、建築細節和色彩致敬。

Marilou Rabourdin (France 法國)

Marilou Rabourdin is a graphic designer with a professional background in art direction, graphic and textile design, now based in Paris. Since graduating with an MA in 2008 from Central Saint Martins, Marilou has worked on a wide range of projects in different industries (luxury fashion and jewellery brands, advertising, kids magazine, charities…) for 7 years in London. She is a creative all rounder, super curious, full of energy, a good team player, always up for a good challenge & collaboration and most of the time on 2 wheels.

Marilou 於1982年出生,是一位平面、布藝設計師以及美術總監,現居於巴黎。於2008年以非常優異的成績,畢業於倫敦中央聖馬丁藝術設計學院,取得碩士學位。其後在倫敦工作超過7年, 期間與多個高級服裝及珠寶品牌合作,作品涵蓋廣告設計、兒童雜誌、慈善項目等。憑藉她的好奇心和多元化的創造力,她的設計往往充滿創意、色彩和童真,令人愉悅。

MODEMENT (HK 香港)

MODEMENT is a Hong Kong based fashion label established in 2010. For years, Aries Sin Mei-yuk has been crafting unisex image for both genders by using minimal cutting and outstanding silhouettes. Most of her collection is strongly influenced by the multi-faceted culture of Hong Kong, ranging from hybridized city landscape to vernacular food stores.

Before Aries Sin Mei-Yuk earned her Higher Diploma of Fashion Design and Product Development from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) in 2008, she was already a fashion design enthusiast recognized by the sector over a number of scholarships and awards. Some of which had offered her valuable overseas working experience such as Peclers Paris. In 2013, she was awarded by “Perspective magazine” as the Next Generation of Design Talent - 40 under 40, and bronze award of “Design for Asia Award 2013”. Over the years, Aries’ unique unisex collections have been the favorites of local artists such as Miriam Yeung, Candy Lo, Denise Ho, Andy Hui, Endy Chow and Ellen Loo. In 2014, Aries was supported by Joyce Boutique, which is well-know famous in fashion industry, had a temporary pop-up shop. Besides Fashion, she was also invited by Hong Kong Heritage Museum, designed and produced art-piece for a 6-month exhibition.

MODEMENT由設計師冼美玉 (Aries) 於2010年創立,為香港原創的高級時裝品牌。冼於2008年畢業於香港專業教育學院,主修時裝設計及產品開發,曾勇奪多個業內獎項及獎學金, 為她帶來法國Peclers Paris的寶貴工作機會。2013年更被著名雜誌《Perspective 透視》選為40位「40歲以下的未來設計才俊」。多年來獨特的中性作品一直是名人歌手的竉兒, 包括楊千嬅、盧巧音、何韻詩、許志安、周國賢及盧凱彤等。2014年 Aries 獲時裝界業界表表者 Joyce Boutique 支持,開設 pop-up shop;在時裝領域以外, 2015年Aries更獲香港文化博物館的邀請製作展品,品牌創作意念來自香港複雜多元的都市文化,從城市景觀以至街頭小食。

Love without fear, no matter how many barriers in front of you, there is always gut and dare to love.

In this print, we used different strokes if lines as the struggles and difficulties, when love appeared; a wonderful world of scene would be come out. We would like to encourage people to show more love to the world rather than anger. Utopia was the place we all desired, which could only be created when people were full of love and care in this earth.

愛,是無懼的,無論前面有多少阻撓,我們都應該抱著膽量,勇敢去愛。

這個設計運用了不同筆觸的線條代表著困難與爭扎,當有愛,一個理想世界便會出現。我們希望大家可以多一點愛,少一點憤怒。能多點愛與關懷,大家渴望的「烏托邦」,便會出現。
