Giordano International helps the Boxing Day earthquake and tsunami victims
Hong Kong – January 3rd, 2005
Acting on our slogan that we live in a "World Without Strangers", Giordano International Limited has launched a number of initiatives in Hong Kong to help the victims of the Boxing Day earthquake and tsunami that devastated South and Southeast Asia last week:
Giordano's shop and office staff in Hong Kong and Macau held a donation drive in support of the "Operation Relief 2005 / 四海同心送關懷" benefit show that aired on TVB Jade on Sunday night, January 2. Over HK$170,000 were raised to support tsunami relief efforts organized by the Red Cross, World Vision, UNICEF, Oxfam and the Salvation Army.
Giordano Ladies donated its New Year's Day net profits from its stores in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Singapore to the Red Cross.
Giordano donated 2,000 pieces of mufflers, tee shirts and cushions to a charity sale on December 31 at the Olympian City Shopping Mall (奧海城商場). Proceeds from the sale will be donated to "Operation Relief 2005 / 四海同心送關懷".
Giordano has begun selling "World Without Strangers" tee shirts in over 20 selected Giordano shops in Hong Kong and Macau to raise funds for the tsunami victims. The effort was launched on December 28. Participating locations include our flagship stores in Manson House in Tsimshatsui and Capitol Centre in Causeway Bay. The appeal will be expanded to all shops in Hong Kong with effect from January 6. The shirt retails for HK$70 each and the gross profits will be donated to World Vision.
In addition to the above, Giordano subsidiaries and affiliates worldwide are organizing donation drives and other initiatives locally in aid of the Boxing Day earthquake and tsunami victims.
