Renowned Chinese Art Master Huang Yongyu Creates New Giordano Logo
Hong Kong ˇV April 3, 2007
Giordano International is proud to unveil its new Chinese logo, created by the Chinese art master Huang Yongyu who is internationally acclaimed for his woodblock prints, ink paintings and literary works. This contemporary interpretation of the established
Giordano name reinforces the brandˇ¦s undiminished vitality and continued relevance for consumers in the rapidly developing Chinese market.
Born in 1924 in Fenghuang County, Hunan Province, Huang never received formal art training. By dint of natural talent and hard work, he taught himself art and literature. At the age of 16, Huang has already made a name for himself with his woodcut prints, which used bold lines and an unconstrained style. In 1949, Huang became the youngest teacher at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He turned to ink paintings in the 1970s, producing an abundance of coloured ink paintings depicting landscapes, flowers and birds using freehand techniques. His fresh themes and unique style of using traditional Chinese painting techniques combined with bold strokes and creative colour usage marked him as an original in contemporary Chinese painting. A multi-talented man, Huang has also published poems, essays, novels, screenplays and photo albums.
